The Beginner’s Guide To Driving Traffic To Your Website by Edmund Yeo
There must be a reason why some websites outperform others in terms of ranking. You may say that “I have a nice website and original content but why haven’t I closed any sales?” It all boils down to a single word “Traffic”. What is “Traffic” in this context? “Traffic” applies to you and me, people who are looking for solutions to solve their daily problems in life.
For people who have read my articles on Affiliate Marketing and Creating a High Converting Squeeze Page, I hope you have taken action on them. This article that I am writing now is a sequel to the two articles. In this article, I will teach you 7 simple ways to drive traffic to your website or squeeze page. In addition, I will be introducing a FREE software to solve your traffic problems. So stay tuned…
To begin, there are 2 types of traffic:
1) FREE Traffic
2) PAID Traffic
1) FREE Traffic:
- Article Marketing
This is one of the best forms of free traffic available.
a) Write an article that is related to your niche market.
b) Submit it to article directories such as:
Hint: If you are new to article marketing, you can browse the articles present in these directories to have a feel of it. Remember to read their submission guidelines before submitting your articles.
c) Post it on your Blog
d) Look for blog authors in your niche market and do a cross-post. That means, you can look for a particular article that you like from his blog and publish it as a guest post while requesting for him to do the same as well. In this way, the two of you will receive more exposure to your blog. This results in a win-win situation for both.
As you can see, the possibilities are limitless. Now it is up to you to implement it.
- Participate in Forums
For example, you are interested in the gardening niche.
a) Use your favourite search engine and type in “gardening forums”.
b) Sign up for the forum that appeals to you most.
c) Before you go out there and send your first post, be sure to read the rules and regulations. You won’t want to intrude into other people’s community without following their rules.
d) Explore the forum for a few days to learn their lingo, style and culture.
e) Once ready, keep in mind to post complete useful information to solve their members’ problems.
f) DO NOT POST questions that have been mentioned many times.
g) Remember to add in a Resource Box at the end of your post to drive traffic to your website if your forum permits.
By following the above-mentioned forum-related tips, you will be able to build your reputation as a valued contributor. I am sure more people will start visiting your website to explore further.
- Social Networking
Social Network sites are the “in thing” now. Therefore, make sure you tap on this vast resource. Some of the more popular sites include:
- MySpace
- Tagged
- HubPages
- Squidoo
- Digg
- Video Marketing
Use Camtasia Studio to create videos or recordings of your newsletter, articles or reports. Upload them to the follow sites for more exposure:
- YouTube
- MySpace
As some people are more receptive to visual or audio materials, it is good to have your materials in other formats. You can host the videos on your website and publish them as well.
- E-Book Marketing
Once you have created many articles, you can actually combine them to form an e-book. Use PrimoPDF to convert them into a pdf file and distribute them to various e-book directories such as the following:
- Jogena
2) PAID Traffic:
- Banner/Text-Link Advertising
Display a banner or text-link on websites to attract visitors. Here is a list of websites where you can find advertising opportunities:
- Ad-Net
However, I would recommend using Google Adwords for beginners. This is because Google offers more options compared to other platforms.
- Pay Per Click Advertising (PPC)
As PPC advertising allows you to advertise according to your budget, it can be used as both a long-term and short-term strategy. As the name suggests, you will only be charged a fee when someone clicks on your ad.
This form of advertising is available on major search engines such as:
- Yahoo!
- Miva
- MSN
Now for the long-awaited free traffic software, it is known as “TrafficTravis”. This software not only helps you to do keyword analysis, which is important in article marketing and paid advertising, it has several other useful functions as well. Additionally, you will learn more about driving traffic to your site in the recommended websites that are available in the software. So what are you waiting for?
