“The Beginner’s Guide to Affiliate Marketing” by Edmund Yeo

Are you afraid of losing your job tomorrow due to a financial meltdown or recession?

Do you think that it will never happen to you?

What if it does?

What are you going to do if you lose your job and your only source of income?

How are you going to support yourself and your family?

These are some of the questions that will appear in everyone’s mind
whenever the global or local economy is in a bad shape.

That is why I have written this article -

To provide you with a solution that is both easy and simple to implement.

Have you heard of AFFILIATE MARKETING?

In my opinion, it is one of the CHEAPEST and SIMPLEST forms of business that you may wish to consider setting up.

How SIMPLE and INEXPENSIVE you may ask?

Well, I will tell you more about that later. :)

Let’s move on.

In AFFILIATE MARKETING, you are basically serving the role of a middleman in your field of expertise to provide solutions in the form of informational or digital products to your potential customers.

It works on the business model of revenue sharing. That is, you will earn a commission from the merchant you are associated with whenever a visitor buys a product through your recommendation via an affiliate link. An affiliate link is a special URL that the merchant creates for you when you decide to join them.

How does AFFILIATE MARKETING work?

Let me quote an example -

123 Company sells an e-book at $27 each. If the customer buys the e-book from the company’s website, it means that 123 Company has made a direct sale and earns a full $27. As the product becomes more saleable, the company decides to start an affiliate program that rewards a 50% commission for every e-book sold by the affiliate to further boost its sales volume.

While David was surfing the internet one day, he bought the e-book from 123 Company. He read the book and found it very useful. Therefore, he decided to join 123 Company’s affiliate program to start promoting the e-book with his unique affiliate link. A customer then visited David’s blog and bought the e-book through his affiliate link.  David was excited to find out that he has made a sale! He had earned $13.50 worth of commissions.

So where does the remaining $13.50 goes to? Back to the company of course!

And that explains why I love AFFILIATE MARKETING. :)

You do not need your own product. All you need to do is to obtain a list of products that are of good quality and reasonably priced to market to your potential customers.

How do I get started in AFFILIATE MARKETING?

It is actually very easy. Pay attention to the steps that I am about to unveil to you.

Step 1: Market or Target Audience

First, you must identify either a broad market or target audience as the foundation of your business.

Example of “Market”: weight loss

Example of “Target Audience”: people who want to lose weight

Some examples of a good market include Business, Health & Fitness, Self-Help, Computers and Technology, Cooking, Dating and many more.

Hint: If you are unsure of which market to select, you may want to check the list of market “categories” at AssociatePrograms.com under the Affiliate Program Directory tab.

Step 2: Product

What products would you like to promote? My recommendation will be informative products. It can be anything from e-books, membership sites, special reports, software, coaching program, audio and video lessons, service and many more. A few good websites that you may want to hunt for
your products are ClickBank.com & AssociatePrograms.com.

Hint: I would advise you to choose products that offer recurring commissions such as services and membership programs.
Step 3: Domain Name

Register a domain name that is related to your selected market. Let’s say you have selected the weight loss market. Your domain name may look something like this -
WeightLoss.com, WeightLossHowTo.com, WeightLossResults.com,
WeightLossTimes.com, and WeightLossHelps.com.

Having your own domain name allows you to build your credibility and
brand name.

You can register your domain name at GoDaddy.com or NameCheap.com. It costs under $10 per year.
Step 4: Hosting services

Purchase hosting for your domain at Hostgator.com because you can literally get started with $4.95 per month.

Step 5: Setup a Blog

Setup a blog with WordPress.com or Blogger.com to promote your products.

Step 6: Mailing Service

Sign up for a mailing service with Aweber.com to build your list of subscribers and your relationship with them. I recommend Aweber.com because I have been using their reliable service for some time and they offer excellent customer support. A mailing service is essential for you to send follow-up offers to all your subscribers to further increase your commissions. It costs $19 per month to sign up.

As you can see, we have just setup our AFFILIATE MARKETING business with just under $40. That is really CHEAP as compared to conventional business.

Let’s do the math.

$10 domain + $4.95 hosting service + $19 mailing service =$32.95.

As you can see, it is really SIMPLE and INEXPENSIVE to start your very own affiliate marketing business. As long as you have the positive mindset and determination to succeed, I am sure one day you will build a really profitable business!
